Training (Bloodwise)

Our training program is called Bloodwise and this program provides community education and training across the state.

Bloodwise sessions focus on three main elements: HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and stigma.

We can provide these sessions as part of an event you are conducting (such as a conference or workshop) or a complete program. We develop and deliver our training with other services including clinicians and people living with HIV or viral hepatitis.

The focus of Bloodwise is preventing and treating blood borne virus (BBV) and sexually transmissible infection (STI).

WHO WE TALK TO

Our sessions can be for any organisation or group. We can provide advice in work places or community organisations. We also train specialised groups such as teachers, police, housing and medical support organisations. We talk to peak bodies with a focus on helping ensure that organisations servicing clients who may be affected by these viruses are able to provide up-to-date and appropriate care and advice.

WHAT WE COVER

We discuss HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C individually to ensure that we cover both the similarities and variations of each virus. We talk about these BBV and STIs in terms of infection, transmission, treatment, cure and prevention. We discuss PREP and U=U for HIV, treatments for curing hepatitis C and free and subsidised vaccines for hepatitis B.

View more information on these viruses in our resources and info section.
In our sessions we also talk about stigma and the challenges faced from both sides with challenging, overcoming and, often, living with the stigma related to carrying these viruses.

Importantly, we can tailor our training to any organisational needs.
